In 2010, our first website went live, marking our official entry into the market. This platform became the cornerstone for reaching dental professionals across the country.

Alongside the website, we shipped our first-ever order, featuring the original BPv1 x HLv1 headlight system. This momentous occasion marked the beginning of our commitment to providing superior dental lighting solutions.

Even a decade after its debut and no longer available, the HLv3 headlamp remains a cult classic among LumaDent customers. At trade shows and conventions across the country, longtime users enthusiastically share stories of its reliability and durability. Many proudly bring in their original HLv3 units to showcase just how long these legendary headlights have lasted. Their continued praise is a testament to the enduring quality of LumaDent products.

It all started with the BPv3 Battery, the powerhouse that launched us into the spotlight.

Engineered for reliability and built to last, it quickly earned a reputation as the go-to choice for mobile lighting systems in dental practices across the USA. Even today, it’s not uncommon to see these early units still holding strong. The BPv3 was more than a battery; it was a statement to the industry. With it, LumaDent stepped confidently onto the global stage, earning recognition as a leader in dental illumination.

We proudly shipped our very first pair of loupes in 2013, setting the foundation for a future focused on enhancing precision and comfort for dental professionals worldwide. This milestone marked the beginning of our journey to revolutionize dental optics.

As demand grew, so did we. LumaDent moved from Carson City to our first dedicated facility in Reno, paving the way for expanded production, innovation, and customer service. This move was a critical step in our growth and commitment to excellence.

Importantly, UniLUX marked LumaDent’s first step toward reimagining the form of professional lighting systems. By breaking away from the bulky belt-clip battery and introducing a sleeker, more ergonomic power configuration, it signaled a new design modality: one that valued the experience of wearing and using the product every single day.

In 2017, we introduced the HL360 LED, our groundbreaking headlight system that quickly became the centerpiece of our product lineup. Designed to provide unmatched clarity and brightness, the HL360 set a new standard in dental lighting, reflecting our dedication to quality and innovation.

If the BPv3 was the dependable workhorse, the ProLUX is its supercharged, Iron Man-suited, gamma-powered upgrade. With greater power, enhanced durability, and extended runtime, ProLUX rewrote and set the new standard for dental lighting. It quickly became our flagship battery solution, earning recognition across the dental community and winning multiple awards for performance and reliability in clinical lighting.

Sleek, silent, and untethered by neither cable nor wiring, the future had come early with the airLUX. The freedom of the airLUX eliminated snags and tugging, offering an uninterrupted and seamless solution for the mindful practitioner. Weightless and wireless, we could forget about it when we wore it, and it integrated into our practice as naturally as we breathe. 

2020 was the beginning of a new era for us, in more ways than one. LumaDent proudly released the ErgoPrism to the general public, to heaps of cheers and praise. As the proud founder of ergonomic loupes in the USA, we set a new standard in posture-first magnification. The ErgoPrism revolutionized practitioner comfort by enabling clinicians to maintain a neutral head position, aiding in eliminating the chronic neck strain associated with traditional optics that every veteran dentist struggles with. This milestone solidified our leadership in innovation and reinforced our mission to enhance both vision and well-being in clinical practice.

The release of the first generation of Ergo Air Loupes marked a turning point in loupe design. After years of ergonomic iterations and advancement, this was our lightest system yet. Built for clinicians who spend hours in the operatory, the Ergo Air delivered all the benefits of posture-first prism optics in a slimmer, lighter format. For many customers, this was the first time ergonomic relief came without the stress of a bulky pair of loupes. It quickly became one of our most adopted loupe systems to date.

With the release of waveLUX, LumaDent introduced a feature that quietly redefined workflow expectations: hands-free activation. For the first time, clinicians could power their headlight with a simple wave, eliminating the constant hassle of gloving and degloving, overall preserving focus and the flow of procedures. The benefit was immediate in sterile environments, where minimizing surface interaction matters.

The 360 Pro was a quantum leap in the clarity we all thought a headlamp could provide. With a 35% increase in brightness and a 25% boost in color accuracy (CRI) over the HL360, this model marked the arrival of modern premium-grade optics in a compact, lightweight form factor. It helped shift expectations for what a clinical headlamp could deliver: brighter light, better color, and zero compromise on comfort.

With the release of 360 Max in 2025, LumaDent introduced a significant premium upgrade to the 360 Pro. It delivered twice the brightness and a tighter beam diameter. These enhancements made it especially effective for procedures that required focus and minimal light diffusion.

Clinicians who used the 360 Pro gained a familiar but noticeably more powerful tool without having to change their batteries or mounts. The 360 Max maintained brightness across longer working distances and provided clearer visibility for detailed work.
